Assists in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats. Utilizes BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components. Participates in design critiques and pin-ups. Interprets and applies building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies. Prepares and revises documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, and details. Coordinates building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent. Reviews shop drawings and submittals, responds to RFIs, prepares site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks. Coordination of specs with construction documents. Assists in the evaluation and selection of building systems and materials. Attends project coordination and meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants. Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating. Implements sustainable design principles into the building design and surrounding environment. Assists in site analysis, research of concept, benchmarks, typology, and precedents. Review A/E contractor design drawings, specifications, and calculation submittals; and, coordinate the same with the work of other disciplines. Coordinate Architectural/Engineering activities with those of other disciplines and project management team within the Engineering Department;  Prepares proposals for design work including sketches and cost estimates for labor, equipment, and materials. Process submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFI’s. Prepare technical specifications, conceptual schemas and scope of work descriptions. Prepare Request for Proposal (RFP) documents with design concepts. Provide technical assistance during pre-bid conferences, proposal evaluations, and post-award or other contract conferences and value engineering. Review vendor and shop drawings, and construction materials. Perform field inspections and provide professional field support and construction trouble shooting as necessary during construction phases. Perform forensic support work and offer cost effective optimal remedial solutions. Assist in setting out Quality Control (QC) terms related to Architectural construction materials and their correct usage. Prepare interface layouts and provide solutions for conflicts. Prepare quality and presentation conscious technical correspondence, reports, and studies. Coordinate with the discipline Engineers to ensure that the relevant sections of works are managed, supervised, and inspected correctly. Review and comment appropriately to RFI’s as received from the Contractor, when directed by the Resident Engineer. Review and comment appropriately to RFA’s as received from the Contractor, when directed by the Resident Engineer. Report to the Resident Engineer any failure of the Contractor to conform to drawings, plans and specifications and to provide good workmanship. Review and comment appropriately to shop drawings received from the Contractor, when directed by the Resident Engineer. Ensure that the works are being constructed to the latest construction and shop drawings. Liaise with the design office Engineer(s) when required. Assist the Resident Engineer in monitoring the Contractor’s progress of the works. Representation of the company at daily site meetings with the Contractor when necessary.
